As you may know, even security applications make mistakes. Sometimes a safe program file is added to a malware database and is detected as a virus, or other kind of malware. This time it was Windows Defender that detected Spyware Terminator as adware; next time it may be a part of your operating system whose loss could cause your computer crash.
You can never be sure if an antivirus program's detection is legitimate. This is why you should use System Protect - a freeware application that protects your operating system, programs and personal files and folders from unwanted deletion or modification. System Protect will warn you when you or a security application attempts to remove a file that is a part of a safe program or your operation system.
If you are using Windows Defender and it still detects Spyware Terminator as malware, you should go to http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/ADL.aspx and download the latest definition updates.
