Congratulations to the Wallpaper Contest Winners!

November 27, 2007: Crawler is helping to spread the word about democracy among Canadian youth through a wallpaper contest co-sponsored by Crawler Group, Apathy is Boring and Dose.ca. After a huge number of participants voted for their favorite wallpaper, the top entries have been determined.

Winners are:

1st place: Larissa Dutil: Democracy is the new black
2nd place: André-Pierre Aubry: Choose your equipment
3rd place: Kevin Bryant: Tree of Knowledge

Did you know:

• Canadian Crawler Group
  and sister company Inbox.com users participated in the contest by submitting entries and/or casting votes.

• Despite Canada's Democracy Project's
  report indicating that 89% of youth felt it was the duty of every citizen to vote, only 38% of youth actually voted in the last federal election.

• Getting youth to participate
  in a small and fun way helps to socialize them politically, which according to a Statistics Canada study can make a significant impact on their future participation.

• The contest fit perfectly with Apathy is Boring's mandate to use art, media and technology in order to encourage young Canadians to express their views on democracy, and all submissions accomplished that goal in an interactive and engaging manner.

Contest Overview

The wallpaper contest asked Canadian youth, aged 18-35, to create an original desktop wallpaper design that embodied one of three themes: "Why Voting Matters"; "Art & Democracy"; "What Democracy Means to You". Full guidelines, specs and a downloadable contest helper kit were posted on the Apathy is Boring website.

All submissions were to be suitable for all ages and respect all copyright and intellectual property right laws. Participants had to sign up for a user profile on the Apathy is Boring homepage.

Submissions were narrowed to 5 and then put to the democratic test in a poll on the Apathy is Boring website where an overwhelming number of users voted for their favorite wallpaper.

Winners received cash prizes provided by Crawler Group, an iPod and other swag courtesy of Dose.ca, concert tickets, exclusive music, cool Apathy is Boring gear and the pride of having their wallpaper available for download on the Apathy is Boring and Crawler Group's FunUtilities.com websites. In addition, the top 5 submissions have been compiled into a downloadable screensaver courtesy of Crawler LLC, and is available through the FunUtilities.com website.
